The information required on a cider label may vary depending on the regulations in the country or region where the cider is sold. However, here are some common elements that are typically included on a cider label:
Product name: This should clearly identify the product as a cider.
Alcohol content: This should be displayed as a percentage of alcohol by volume (ABV) or alcohol by weight (ABW), depending on local regulations.
Ingredients: This should include a list of the ingredients used to make the cider, in descending order by weight. This may be required by law, depending on the region.
Allergen information: If the cider contains any ingredients that are known allergens, such as sulphites, this must be declared on the label.
Volume: The volume of the cider must be clearly displayed on the label, typically in milliliters (ml) or fluid ounces (fl oz).
Producer information: This should include the name and address of the producer or bottler of the cider.
Country of origin: This should indicate the country where the cider was produced.
Lot or batch code: This is a unique code that identifies the batch or lot of cider that the bottle belongs to.
In addition to these required elements, the cider label may also include other information, such as tasting notes, food pairing suggestions, or

Alternatively, we have Roll Labels
Roll labels are labels that are supplied in a roll form, with multiple labels printed on a continuous roll of material. Roll labels can be used for a variety of purposes, such as product labeling, barcode labeling, and packaging labeling.
Roll labels can be made from a variety of materials, including paper, polypropylene, and more, depending on the application and intended use of the label.
So why use a roll label?
- Customisation: Roll labels can be produced in a variety of sizes, shapes, and designs, allowing for a high level of customization. This is particularly important for cider producers who often have unique branding and label designs that they want to incorporate into their products.
- Cost-effective: Roll labels are typically more cost-effective than other labeling methods, especially for larger quantities of labels. This can be particularly advantageous for cider producers who may produce smaller batches of cider.
- Easy to apply: Roll labels are designed to be easy to apply, especially when using a label dispenser. This can help to save time and increase efficiency in the labeling process.
- Durable: Roll labels can be made with durable materials and adhesives, making them resistant to moisture, heat, and other environmental factors that can affect the quality of the label.
- Branding: Roll labels can help to enhance the branding of a cider product. The labels can be printed with custom designs and branding to help distinguish the product from competitors and create a memorable visual identity.
- Regulatory compliance: Roll labels can include all the regulatory information required by law, such as the product’s alcohol content, country of origin, and any other information that may be required by law.

Where can you put a Cider Label on a bottle?
Neck label – Not everyone chooses to have a neck label, it is not important to have but can give a nice finishing touch to the top of your cider bottle. This often just consists of a small logo or slogan. Although only 6% of visual attention goes onto the neck, companies still spend a minimum of £ 3 billion per year at an average 1p per label (That’s a lot of labels!)
Back Label – Going by the law, this is your most important label, the most boring but most important. This would include the alcohol strength and units, producer, ingredients, and expiration date. Although only 4% spend time viewing this label, you can’t sell your product without it, so make sure it is perfect!
Front Label –Going from the stats of research from Anglia Ruskin University, the other 90% of the customers viewing is on the front label. The artistic, creative, good-looking side. The side where you show off your product and make those extra sales! We can help you get your artwork ready and print the perfect label.
Wrap-Around Label – The wrap around label is a combination of the front and back label into a singular label around the whole bottle. These are most popular for smaller bottles and can labels, providing all the information you need in one size and job run.
Labelling Materials for Cider Labels
Cider bottles are often chilled before serving, and if the label is not waterproof, it may become damaged by condensation. Waterproof labels provide a barrier that protects against moisture and keeps the label looking good. A waterproof label also gives the cider bottle a professional and high-quality look. This is important for branding purposes, as it helps to create a positive impression of the cider and the company that produces it.
Matt white paper labels provide a classic and natural look to cider bottles. The non-glossy finish creates a tactile, rustic feel that is perfect for ciders with a traditional or artisanal character. However, it’s important to note that they may not be as durable as other label materials, so cider producers should consider their specific needs when choosing a label type.
Gloss white labels have a clean, bright look that can enhance the visual appeal of the cider bottle, especially when combined with colourful graphics or text. This can make the product stand out on store shelves and attract customers.
